We hosted ECSE Family Nights at Memory Lanes bowling alley and at Sullivan School this year.
The objective of all of our Sullivan ASD family education events is to provide a safe learning and teaching environment for both pre-school children with autism and their parents and siblings.
We choose community educational activities that are experience-based, highly motivating for the children, and something that many typically developing children and families might experience together. According to current research based evidence and widely accepted best practice, children with autism learn best and find meaning through activities that have high affect, are dynamic and allow for spontaneous learning. The confidence gained by both children and families in a supported learning environment like this can be generalized to other natural community events.
