I have been a School Social Worker in the Minneapolis Public Schools since 1989.  I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work and psychology and a Master's degree in Social Work.  I am  a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) with the Board of  Social Work and am a School Social Worker II with the Board of Education.   I have worked with all ages of children but  work primarily with the younger students at Sullivan.  I love working with children and families. I try very hard to develop a good relationship with families and let them know I care about their children.  I help students with their social, emotional and behavioral needs so that they are better able to learn, have friends and get along.  I see students individually and in groups.  I refer families for various resources, counseling and children's programs if needed.  I want students to succeed!   Please call me if you have a concern, comment or question.  You can reach me at (612) 668-5014 or paula.nelson@mpls.k12.mn.us.
